In February 2010, OleOle!asked me to manage their SEO and Online Marketing. Still pursuing a series A of venture capital, the website went through major changes in which I was very involved. It is the world’s largest online community for football fans, receiving in excess of 35m visits every year. My role with OleOle! was two-fold: first to create a new online football ticket store and maximise its online exposure in a very short amount of time, and second to continuously work at improving OleOle!’s SEO for long-tail search results in 10 languages.
Due to a lack of development resources, most of my SEO recommendations were not fully implemented. After 6 months, it was however possible to report on the following results, bearing in mind that these results were drawn in August, period of low football activity:
- +19% visits
- +20% Unique visitors
- +18% Google organic traffic
- +24% Google referral traffic
My work with OleOle came to an end in August 2010 as the management team are seeking further VC funding.
